Chris Keylock and his co-workers at the universities of Southampton and Melbourne have won the 2017 Fluid Dynamics Research Prize for their work on the structure of turbulent boundary-layers. The study looks at modulation of the small scales by the large, and highlights the importance of the low speed regions for controlling the nature of this interaction.
