Profile

Dr. Shao joined the University of Sheffield on 1st September 2013 after serving as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at the University of Bradford. Before he joined University of Bradford in 2006, he had worked at the University of Hong Kong, University of Plymouth, Kyoto University, Nanyang Technological University and Beijing Forestry University as a postdoctoral research fellow since 1998. During this time, he has also got an associate professorship at the North China Electric Power University. Dr. Shao obtained his Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees at the Department of Hydraulic Engineering, Tsinghua University. His major research interests are river hydraulics and coastal hydrodynamics as well as mesh free numerical modelling techniques such as Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH).
